  • Added support for new Consecutive stereo split type for movies from the Cutwise. This split type can be used for stereo videos in which the first half of the movie is left eye consecutive frames and the second half is right eye consecutive frames

  • Added support for new format of 3D Global autostereoscopic display calibration data. The current version of the application still supports the old calibration data format as well.

Installation and configuration

This guide is intended for configuring the Octonus Stereo Viewer (OSV) application, starting with version 4.8.24.75, which introduced support for 3D Global stereo displays of the new generation. However, we recommend that you always use the latest version of the OSV, which can be downloaded from the link below (version 4.8.26.77):

Stage 1: Installing the OSV application 

Please download and install the latest version of the Octonus Stereo Viewer from the link in the note block above. You can use the installer settings as shown in the screenshots below:

Stage 2: Installing the 3D display configuration

If you have already done this stage for the previous version of the OSV application, then you do not need to do it again, because all settings will be saved for the new version. You can just skip this step and go to the next one

Please download and install all necessary 3D Global stereo display configuration files. Simply find your monitor's serial number on the sticker on the back side of the display and select the appropriate configuration from the folder:

There is no need to change the path where the unpacking will be performed.

If your 3D display has a different serial number, please contact the OSV developers for further instructions

Stage 3: Unlimited cache for movie frames

To avoid freezes when playing large movies, it is recommended to download the patch with unlimited cache for movie frames: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0e5up399h3wx5bjcy6792/VideoLoader.msalib?rlkey=9vdylsqd33ysokahuyfqhhz12&dl=0 and replace the existing file in the Octonus Stereo Viewer installation folder with it.

Stage 4: Setting parameters in the OSV for correct stereo

This needs to be configured only once upon first start. If you've done this before, just check that all your stereo settings are correct

Step by step guide

Launch the installed Octonus Stereo Viewer application and open any stereo test, for example, the Depth Test: menu Help > Stereo Tests > Depth Test

After that, please set up the stereo in the application as described below (use the Display widget on the View tab on the right panel)

  1. Select Autostereoscopic mode from the list of available stereo modes
  2. Activate Stereo mode using the corresponding button
  3. Enable Head tracking by checking the appropriate box
  4. Expand the data you are viewing to Full screen using the appropriate button
  5. Please check that the stereo on the 3D Global autostereoscopic display is displayed correctly
  6. If necessary, use the slider to adjust the Stereo View Offset setting to suit your 3D display.

Stage 5: Prepare connection between Cutwise and OSV

Step by step guide

  1. Download and run the registry file osv-url.reg from here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/id6bp2ns5whuteov1jstz/osv-url.reg?rlkey=0vlmfoax85m1koulb9akwzjva&dl=0
  2. Create folder "C:\temp\stereo". Download and copy the file osv.ps1 into the folder "C:\temp\stereo" from here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/r8ve8febn0oaa0mra3buv/osv.ps1?rlkey=6uy1shqwf0t3vm26s1u8vs9gb&dl=0
    1. This file is configured to run OSV 4.8.22.73 installed into the "C:\Program Files\OctoNus Software\OctoNus Stereo Viewer 4.8.22.73". If it was installed into another directory, open osv.ps1 and change the path to your version of the Octonus Stereo Viewer.exe:

      This script uses cache to save all earlier downloaded movies, so all next openings of the movie after the first one will be made from the cache. Information about clearing the cache is in the Clear all downloaded files from cache section below.

      Also this script launches auto-fit on the stereo-monitor

  3. Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator. Sequentially execute following commands:

    Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
    Unblock-File C:\temp\stereo\osv.ps1

Stage 6: Test Cutwise stereo movie opening

Step by step guide

  1. Run the OctoNus Stereo Viewer application.  Change its window size to any non-maximized:
  2. LogIn to Cutwise with user: Lexus
  3. Go to diamond page: https://cutwise.com/diamond/49192?sp=51  
  4. Click the OSV Stereo View button in player: 


The OSV program will start with the selected video and start playing stereo on the autostereoscopic display.

Stage 7: Clear all downloaded files from cache

Step by step guide

  1. Run Internet Explorer
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Del on the keyboard
  3. Select option Temporary Internet files and website files in opened window
  4. Press Delete button
