These parameters are applicable only to Round brilliant cut. |
Crown Painting is the angular deviation of the upper girdle facets' azimuth from the ideal value. As such, it should be zero for an ideal stone.
To determine the crown painting, an angle between the normals to the upper girdle facet and the adjacent bezel facet is found, and then the ideal value of 11.25° is subtracted from it.
The value in notches is defined as the value in degrees divided by 3.75.
Crown painting (symmetry) is defined as the maximum difference of Crown painting measurements, i.e. the same as deviation of Crown painting value.
ReportingThere are 16 independent values of Crown Painting in a round brilliant cut. Besides the ordinary Avg, Min, Max, Dev statistical measurements, the report contains MaxDev. This is the value maximally deviating from 0, i.e., either Min or Max, whichever is greater by absolute value. Note the non-standard naming convention in the bookmarks.

Pavilion Painting is the angular deviation of the upper girdle facets' azimuth from the ideal value. As such, it should be zero for an ideal stone.
To determine the pavilion painting, an angle between the normals to the lower girdle facet and the adjacent pavilion facet is found, and then the ideal value of 11.25° is subtracted from it.
The value in notches is defined as the value in degrees divided by 3.75.
Pavilion painting (symmetry) is defined as the maximum difference of Pavilion painting measurements, i.e. the same as deviation of Pavilion painting value.

Sum painting is the sum of the average values of Crown Painting and Pavilion Painting.
