Spectrum Reconstruction estimates the absorption spectrum of a stone directly from its ViBox 2.0 360° film, with no separate spectrometer required. The result is a spectrum file you can download and use for color prediction (e.g. in Carbon) and, in the future, for spectrum-aware rendering in Web Clarity Plotting and Brilliant Stories.

It is available on both Diamond and Rough product pages, and can be run by the product owner.


Before you start

You can run Spectrum Reconstruction only when the product already has the inputs the service needs:

  1. ViBox 2.0 video captured with the Spectrum reconstruction profile.
  2. 3D model of the stone (the Carbon scan uploaded to Cutwise or Imported STL model), just as for Web Plotting and Brilliant Stories.

If any of these is missing, capture/upload it first, then return to the product page.

How to run it

  1. Open the product page of your Diamond or Rough on Cutwise.
  2. In the blue toolbar at the top, find the Spectrum Reconstruction button
  3. Click Spectrum Reconstruction. A spinner appears next to the button while the job runs.
  4. Wait for the job to finish. Typical run time is ~5–15 minutes depending on the size of the stone and the worker load. Larger rough stones take longer. You can leave the page; the job runs on the server.
  5. When the job completes, download the resulting spectrum TXT file.
