This parameter is applicable to Oval cut.
Square deviation is the ratio of the stone projection area to the area of minimal rectangle containing it, normalized so as to equal 0 when the projection is an ideal ellipse.
Calculation
Square deviation = (S1/S2 - 0.784)/0.3
Note that Square deviation is reported in MyAppraiser (but not in the Standard report) in percents, that is, multiplied by 100.
Usage and Examples
This parameter controls a girdle shape transition between:
- Marquise
- Neither Marquise nor Oval
- Perfect ellipse (parameter value 0)
- Normal Oval
- Neither Oval nor Cushion.
- Cushion
Reporting
Square deviation does not appear in Polish reports.
